Wedding Photography Pricing

Our philosophy on pricing...we don’t try to compete with other photographers by setting our prices lower. Instead, we try to compete by setting our quality as high as it can be. We believe that although we have all been trained to seek out the bargains, a wedding is one time in life when you should feel free to go against the training and seek out that absolute best instead. Here is a test to see if you agree with us... does your wedding ring have a real diamond, or a Cubic Zirconium stone?

Wedding Philosophy

Our approach to shooting your special day will be as unique as each wedding. Our goal is to capture the special moments of your day, the dress, the bouquet, the rings, the romance and all the festivities that go with the celebration of your new life together. Our goal will be complete, When you open your wedding album and read a story that is filled with the emotion, energy and romance of that special event. We will meet with you to discuss your wedding day and show you the type of work we produce.

Why is photography so expensive?

It is true that you will invest a lot of money to get good photography. To put it in perspective with your other wedding expenses, photography usually accounts for about 10-20% of the wedding budget. That money seems well spent when you consider that, other than your rings and maybe your wedding gown, your photographs are the only tangible thing you will be able to keep as a visual reminder of your wedding in the years to come. The different prices each photographer charges are usually indicative of the experience and/or quality of work each photographer can produce. However, more experience does not always indicate a higher quality and there are thousands of photographers out there that have been working for 20 years or more and are still producing mediocre results that cannot begin to compete with the new artistic quality of some of their high tech fine art peers. Marie Cross Studios’ service prices are about even with the prices charged by the top 10 fine art photojournalistic style wedding photographers in the greater Chicagoland area and Northwest Indiana. One of the most frequent comments that we hear goes something like this, “ I looked on your website and I absolutely loved your pictures, they are so different from the other wedding sites I have visited -the only problem now is the price-why, are you so expensive?” It always seems to us that they just answered their own question.

The simple truth is this...

Photography is like everything else in the world... You get what you pay for!

Set your Priorities

It never ceases to amaze us that in the search for a professional wedding photographer, very often decisions are made on the basis of price. If there was only one piece of advice we could give you, it would be to put price lower on your priority list.

What you should be looking for in a professional wedding photographer is...1) the personality of the photographer. 2) Skill and style of the photographer, and lastly price.

We put personality first because nobody will follow you through your wedding day more closely than a good wedding photographer-you better be able to like this person. The last thing you want is a bad experience tainting your wedding day. We think this should be the number one consideration because it won’t matter if your photographer is the best in the world if they act inappropriately or are rude to you and your guests.

We put skill second because your photographer must have the ability to capture this one day in a way that you will enjoy viewing for the rest of your life. No matter how small or large your wedding might be, you will remember almost nothing about it afterwards, it will be a haze in your memory and the only reminder of your wedding will be the images captured by your photographer.

Thank you,

Marie Cross Studio
